Obviously I love my job and I'm sure you all love your jobs, but having seen this I think it might be the best job ever.

A man is being paid equivalent to £73,500 to be the caretaker of a tropical Australian island for 6 months. The plan being he'll live and hang out on the island, and blog about his experiences on the island. The aim: to increase tourism.

Whilst I'm not sure how much this will increase tourism (although I do understand the logic behind it) I'm certain that this gentleman will have an amazing time during his 6 months.

Is this really the world's best job?

The world's best job?

As is almost always the case with such dramatic, absolute statements, so beloved of the media, it will be the world's best job for some and not for others.

It would be an absolutely dreadful job for me, for example. I'm not that keen on the heat, and I have a wife and three children firmly based in the UK from whom I would hate to be away for six days, never mind six months.

I'm sure there are also plenty of people for whom it would be the best job imaginable.

But let's have less of this "The world's best job" stuff. It's meaningless.
There are better paying jobs in government, if you get into the right department.
