I was very fortunate to be able to attend the Louis Gray, Ecademy Social Media Marketing Training Day.

Louis Gray is remarkable young man - born in the April of 1977.

Louis has a obvious passion for Social Media and IT

Louis is referred to as a "Social Geek" His famous blog is http://www.louisgray.com

When Louis started blogging he found things that he liked and what his friends liked and so he used the blog to bring them into one place. - The Social Media sites that we know and use today such as Social Median, Friendsfeed, Google Reader, Twitter.to name but a few

I wrote my notes up in two columns, one was about Louis himself and the other was the about the sites that Louis advises he is using to monetise the data and also the web tools.

I did this because I had started using Social Media myself - following Thomas Power and the sites and web tools that he was using. Louis gave us some other sites and also some effective tools so that we can all potentially be able to use the same strategy or at least enhance the one that we are already using.

Social Media is real time - its another world, but its here and those that are used to using traditional old ways of marketing and sales are going to have to get hold of it. Either by paying others to do it for them or by learning to do it themselves.

Old Media can't be in denial or they will loose their businesses.

The sign of the times is to be active where ever the conversation is. Everyone is going to have to adapt or you will loose your lead.

There are so many sites now, but it would be impossible to manually post on a daily basis. Fortunately, there are the web tools that have been set up to enable us to monetise everything.

Having IT related skills does help so much, the web tools are there, but you need to understand how to use them as well. For every site you have to set up a profile and then link all the other sites into those as well, just like what you currently do on Ecademy and Friendsfeed.

Do you remember the saying "No Man Is An Island? " Well this is all a good example as you can't survive in this on your own. Its all about a "Team Spirit", the people in your network will play their part in your Social Media Marketing Plan and Strategy as what other people say and write about you that will help to build your brand.

Facebook - Twitter - Friendsfeed and sites where you can post comments and of course now we have this new function on Ecademy.

Louis also mentioned Google Reader.

The strategy is to write to the audience and use the web tools to bring in the comments and so what we look at first are the Headlines and the 1st Paragraphs. Perhaps you need to go on a speed reading course - speak to Alex Garcez

You now have to write about your personal brand and how it affects the reader.

If you don't have a clue about what your brand is, then you need to speak to someone who can help you brand your product or service - like Mark Wing & Peter Claes

Social Media isn't going to replace PR - just that the people who providing the PR Service are going to have to learn how to use Social Media.

Social Media is also part of Customer Service….

To cut a long story short - you now have to engage your audience and what you write will also determine what sort of audience you have or in fact if you have one at all!

So where do you go from here?

Start by enticing your prospects to come to you,

Create your Social Media Marketing Strategy.

Go to where your customers are, search the comments and start responding by adding your comments to build trust, get recommended and eventually you will reach your goal - New Partners - Sales - Money! wink

Fantastic notes. Thanks for participating and sharing. I recognize there was a lot of content, and everybody needs to find their pace, determining what is the most important data for them, and what is not. I enjoyed meeting all of you and hope to visit Ecademy again soon.
